As of tomorrow (08/08), American gamers will be able to pick up an Elite console for $449, the limited edition Halo 3 console will be $399 at launch, the standard SKU will come in at $349 and the core will retail for $279.

Dubbing its games portfolio as ‘the greatest holiday lineup in video game history,’ Microsoft highlighted the release of Madden ’08 as a key factor in the drop.

“The fact that we have been able to keep our launch price longer than any other console while retaining our leadership position demonstrates that consumers believe in the value of Xbox 360,” said corporate VP for global retail sales and marketing group in the entertainment and devices division at Microsoft Mitch Koch.

“On the eve of the best holiday games lineup ever and the launch of Madden NFL 08, there has never been a better time to jump into Xbox 360.”
