EA to launch own PC download site

EA Store coming soon, according to publisher

Electronic Arts is preparing to offer its PC consumers the chance to download games from its own digital store.

The publisher has launched a viral marketing campaign to promote the new portal.

The video opens by with a wooden EA-branded box and the promise that: ‘Something BIG is about to drop from EA’

Once a picture of denator has been clicked on, the box explodes to reveal a monitor depicting what the store is likely to look like.

The resulting still contains the claim that the online desination will be:

‘The fast, reliable and secure way to download EA games direct to your PC.’

That's all fine and dandy...they're competing with Steam. But has anyone tried to download something from EA's "Large file server"? I'm LUCKY to hit 100kb/s at school, and my school has a FAST internet connection (the joke goes that kids complain when the internet drops below 5mbps)
