Broadcaster courted by platform holder for Video-On-Demand service
Microsoft is in discussions with the BBC to bring the Corporation’s programmes to Xbox Live.
According to The Times, Ross Honey, senior director for media at Microsoft’s content and partner strategy group, confirmed the company had spoken to the BBC and several other European media companies.
“We are working diligently on multiple fronts to make it happen,” he said. “The BBC is a great content provider.”
Microsoft was attracted to the BBC’s library of content and to high-definition programmes such as Planet Earth, Honey added.
Last year the BBC signed an agreement with Microsoft to explore ways of developing its digital services.

Alright.
This sounds like an excellent idea.
Cool
Hope they get the latest Top Gear episodes. I love that show
Re: Cool
Oh great so the BBC get to make moeny out of Microsoft for programs our licence fees have paid for? What's the payback for the Briton without an Xbox? More cash for other programming? Fat chance.
More importantly, you could argue that any Brit who pays thier licence fee shouldn't then have to pay MS for access to the programming. I can belive MS would give it away fo free.
Re: Cool
The same could be said of BBC content available online and how brits without internet are unable to access these services. While it's a good point, I think it falls under the category of "oh well, that's life"
In theory as well, if the BBC ever made enough from other companies such as Microsoft selling such services, the cost of our TV licenses would decrease... though I suppose the odds of that happen are slim to none!
