Japanese hardware sales take a knock

Console sales fall in Japan for the week ending September 2nd

Hardware sales in Japan have taken a downturn for the week ending September 2nd – the PS3 being the only exception with a marginal boost, shifting 18,068 units.

The DS sold less than 100,000 units during the week for the first time this year, reported Games Industry. Its 94,339 sales do, however, continue to lead the hardware market, while the Wii came second with 39,371 sales.

PSP sales fell by 3,893 during the week down to 22,196, and the PS2 sold a total of 14,280 units, down 859 on the previous week’s figure of 15,139 sales.

Elsewhere, the Xbox 360 sold 1635 units, the GBA 474 and the GameCube 73.
