Fils-Aime: 360 and PS3 price drops don’t bother us

Nintendo boss promises increase of stock before Christmas

President of Nintendo America Reggie Fils-Aime has reacted to the news that Wii has become the world’s best-selling next-gen console by warning Sony and Microsoft that the firm is ready for “the long term battle”.

Speaking to San Jose Mercury News as part of the US newspaper’s gaming podcast, Fils Aime said that “360 and PS3 essentially trade share as they alternate on price reductions” adding: “Really, none of that is affecting our business.”

He continued: ”We are not taking our current success lightly. This is a long-term battle.”

Fils-Aime also promised a jump in Wii stock before the holiday period. He commented:

“The good news is we’re flowing more and more product into the marketplace, and the amount of Wii hardware that will be in North American stores will be unprecedented—substantially more than the launch and substantially more than has been seen to date.”

However, he admitted that consumers would still find it “difficult to get their hands on a Wii”.

Loads of Hardware sales, yet no Software sales, I wonder why, haven't played my Wii since I bought it 6 months ago.

I guess it's hard to find even Wii games where you are.
Over in Europe/UK, we have lots of great Wii games to play. My family with 4 kids already has several, and 4 controllers. (Now why didn't Nintendo support 6 players?) WarioWare. Big Brain Academy. Excite Truck, and Super Monkey Ball and... Bomberman tops the league of VC games my kids love.
I'm waiting for some excuse to buy myself Resident Evil 4, Metal Slug Anthology, and Metroid Prime 3.
My friends and colleagues are still playing Ravin Rabbits and Medal of Honour, not to mention some of them Boogie!
We have Carnival on pre-order, and can't wait for the Wii Zapper and Wii Fit... we'll be unhappy with PAL delays.

No wonder you're having a hard time without any games.

The truth is, from a high-street retailers view, is that people aren't buying the games... its the biggest selling console ever but the games charts don't reflect this. We get people in every day saying the best game on the Wii is the one that comes free in the box...

I found this incredible program that pays you to test video games. It works, too-- I've tried it! You get to keep new games and play games that aren't even out yet: check it out.

There's plenty to coming to Pal.

Christmas line-up:

Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime Corruption, Wii Zapper/Link's Crossbow Training, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles... I could go on but I think that's satisfactory.
