Government backs Manhunt 2 ban

Online petition provokes Government statement – BBFC decision considered satisfactory

Next-gen.biz reports that the ongoing Manhunt 2 saga has taken another twist this morning as the Government has come out to defend the BBFCs ruling.

A statement in response to an online petition reads: ““The Government is satisfied with the BBFC's procedure and with the provisions for appeal, and will not be intervening in this process. The Government has recently announced a review aimed at helping parents ensure that their children are protected from exposure to inappropriate material in games. This is not intended to restrict the choice of material available to adults.”

Nice one simon, make a comment on behalf of every adult in the country, I presume u took the time to ask everyone their opinion on that?. I know plenty of people who want to play this game and frankly its just wrong that the government thinks its ok to ban it.

Censorship is far worse than the supposed harm this game would cause to its players. Yet again, stupidity has triumphed over reason, its not as if theres even the slightest bit of hard evidence that supports video games or any other form of entertainment provoking violent behaviour, yet they continue to treat games as if they are so much worse than other forms of media.

As James said in comment 2 this game is for ADULTS, I work in a store that sell games and have witnessed many times and unable to say or refuse sale to adults who buy this psycho trash for there children some as young as 7, children are brainbashed with enough violence on TV without letting them immerse themselves in this blood soaked virtual reality world..
I think that if you really do need to immerse yourself playing a psycho you really should be spending your money on therapy not a game..
