Blu-Ray to front Sony marketing attack

SCE’s Kaz Hirai says hi-def disc format will front Sony’s PS3 message

Though it remains one of PS3’s most controversial out-of-the-box inclusions, SCE president Kaz Hirai has told The Financial Times that Blu-Ray will form a major part of Sony’s future marketing campaigns for its next-gen console.

Hirai claims SCE is working closely with Sony Pictures and Sony Entertainment to “get the Blu-Ray message out”, though he did admit that marketing the machine as both a games console and hi-def movie player poses challenges”

“The PS3 is first and foremost a video games machine but we want to say ‘by the way, it’s a great Blu-Ray player as well’.”

OH MY GOD SONY!!! I hate to say it but i think they've got it wrong again. Sonys marketing department is s**te. Do they not realise the Playstation brand is reknown for its gaming and not video playback..... regardless of how good it is. In a recent survey was'nt it reported that alot of PS3 owners had no idea what blu-ray was let alone the fact their machines could play blu-ray discs???

I have an ingenious suggestion no one else has obviously thought o*****ny.....Good Quality exclusive GAMES sell systems....the blu ray pitch is only going to attract that niche market of users who actually want a blu ray device at this early stage of the high def era - and saying that, they probably have already bought one anyways.
