Creative and Logistics departments promise to make life easier for retailers
Following the announcement of its new corporate identity last week, Gem has launched two new divisions to complement its core distribution business.
Gem Creative is a new in-house creative design and production studio, which offers support for trade and consumer advertising campaigns, point of sale material, repackaging, bundling design and retail solutions, as well as media buying and publishing facilities in both the trade and consumer sectors.
“We have launched Gem Creative in response to an increasing demand from our supply partners, who have been very impressed with our PR and marketing facilities and would benefit from a greater level of support. This is an excellent opportunity for us to support our supply partners in their retail objectives,” said Gem commercial and marketing director Simon Lee.
Gem Logistics promises to ‘add extra value with a wide range of supporting services to support an end-to-end supply chain solution’. Its responsibilities include primary and secondary distribution, import and export services, reverse logistics, security tagging, bundling, labelling and retail-ready solutions. The division will operate from Gem’s Lancashire-based 110,000 square feet national distribution centre.
“We despatched in excess of 18 million units last year, of which 60 per cent required some form of added value,” said Gem Logistics director Alan Lynch. “Our picking accuracy of 99.99 per cent and the fact that the centre only currently operates a single shift pattern of Monday to Friday demonstrates how we have the capacity to ensure that we deliver our partners’ requirements both now and in the future.”
