Sony: We’ll sell 11m PS3s by next March

Kaz Hirai claims console is on target to reach milestone by end of financial year
Sony Computer Entertainment boss Kaz Hirai has stated that the PS3 is on track to hit Sony’s sales expectations of 11 million units sold by the end of the company’s financial year next March, Tech.co.uk reports.
In the first quarter of its financial year Sony managed to sell 710,000 PS3 consoles.
Hirai stated that he expects demand to drastically increase once the machine’s software catalogue begins to pick up pace. Repeated rumours of a price cut are still yet to be confirmed.

I think the PS3 will outsell 360 3:1 next year and that the wave will start kicking off seriously the second the first playable MGS demo is out. You'll see.
By 2010, there will be more PS3's in the world than Wii and 360 combined.
If Halo 3 is the best Microsoft can do on their machine, there's no doubt about that.

He was talking of SHIPPING 11 million to stores, not SELLING 11 million to consumers.

I think the PS3 will struggle to sell to that target, with no A+ games and still a high price its time for them to pass the torch to Mircosoft

Microsoft didn't even develop Halo. Halo was on the Mac platform, before Microsoft got scared and got sellout Bungie.
The wussies knew it would kill PC gaming, Bungie had Marathon out, and it was a growing force. Never the less, Unreal Tournament is a better game and thats on the PS3 this fall. Face it Microsoft has no imagination.

First, drop the price to £250-£300.
Second, get better games that appeal to a western gamer.

When will Sony understand that shipping numbers will never compare to actual sales numbers. Both 360 and Wii are currently selling over 11million, while PS3 is yet to crack 5 million. Not going to happen.

Halo 3 probably isn't the best game they can do on that machine seeing as the 360 has only been out for just over a year. It probably has a long way to go.
The PS3 will have had it once this Christmas has been and gone and those hanging on for a PS3 realise that pretty much all the games they want to play are on the 360 as well.
