Microsoft remedies Halo 3 scratches

Platform holder vows to replace damaged discs following Limited Edition Halo 3 problems

Microsoft has conceded that the design of the box that houses the Limited Edition version of its epic FPS Halo 3 has lead to a number of gamers opening it to discover that their disc is scratched – and has vowed to replace any faulty units.

The firm will allow any unhappy gamers to apply for a replacement disc free of charge until the end of the year – forgoing the usual £10 disc replacement charge.

The agreement only covers the Limited Edition, as there is no problem with the traditional or Legendary Edition’s packaging.

The replacement application form can be found here.

The biggest game of the decade and they can't even get the packaging right, it's just not good enough!

This is completly unsatisfactory.

If you send the disc back to Microsoft they state to allow 2 Weeks for delivery!

So Joe Bloggs who has just bought Halo 3 on Wednesday, took it home to find it scratched is expected to wait 2 weeks to get a replacement! Ridiculous!

Microsoft need to make replacement discs available in store otherwise people will simply return all the Ltd Editions for refunds.

Just to clarify, for most people it's the 'Essentials' disc that is damaged, not the game disc. I have the Limited Edition pack and it certainly didn't come through transit very well. The tin has two compartments and the one with the game disc has the user manual and a little hardback book in it, so it's far more rigid than the other side which just has the bonus disc in.

The bonus disc bit was quite badly dented on my box and the disc was rattling around in there when I opened it up. It wasn't scratched though and works fine. The other side was dented too, but the books had prevented it from moving far enough to pop the game disc off.
