Largest marketing budget ever for Kane & Lynch; sequel in production
Step aside Lara Croft: Eidos appears to have a new favourite IP, after the publisher told MCV that it would spend more on Kane & Lynch: Dead Men than it has ever lavished on a Tomb Raider game.
The third-person revenge epic arrives on 360, PS3 and PC on November 23rd.
“We believe it has the potential to be a franchise for adults that is respected and loved in the same way as Hitman,” CEO of Eidos parent Jane Cavanagh told MCV. “The marketing spend reflects our confidence both in the title and the franchise, which has already been optioned for a Kane & Lynch movie by Lionsgate.
“We’ve already got Kane & Lynch 2 in production, which just goes to show the belief we have in it as a long-term franchise.”
And SCi CFO Phil Rogers explained: “Kane & Lynch is due to be released at the same time as the Hitman movie, and we will be taking full advantage of the cross-marketing potential that the title has.”

Hang on a sec!
What if the game doesn't do as well as they expected? What if it flops? Aren't Eidos jumping a bit too far??
Unless they know for sure this game is a masterpiece then fair enough but then every developer loves the games they make I am sure however unless reviews come in we won't know for sure what this game is really like however after watching a very small sample the game does seem appealing.
However November is the month for MASS EFFECT on the 360 which it could conflict with...
Re: Hang on a sec!
I agree with Goku. Army of Two will also be out which will compete with it's sales.
Also I bet FIFA 08 and Halo 3 will still be selling well in Nov, add in the releases of Super Mario Galaxy and Call of Duty 4 and I don't think that many people will buy Kane and Lynch over these games
Re: Hang on a sec!
They should spend more money implementing online co op than trying to score a movie deal. This game was a guaranteed sale for me and my mate until we found out it was offline co op only.
it's still viable
Look, the gameplay was subpar in the first one, and the graphics weren't really rendered well either. Furthermore, the AI was really unpredictable and didn't make too much sense. BUT the storyline was really intriguing and character development was great. And although games shouldn't necessarily be movie productions, i think eidos has something here that, with a little bit more time and money, they can make something out of.
Make a 2nd one
All I can say is make a second Kane & Lynch, but make sure Jenny is in it.
If you can make something out of it
I think that Edios should spend more money on it because I think they could really create a good series.
Re: If you can make something out of it
Oh what the... THE FIRST GAME WAS ****, so why make a sequal?
I mean, it's not like i'm the only one who thinks it's a **** game. The majority of gamers do.
Re: If you can make something out of it
Any one who thinks that Kane & Lynch is a **** game is a fool, idiot.. or both. The game is perfect, look at every aspec of it, I mean the gameplay is damn good, the story is one of the best, the graphics and effects installed in the game, even the soundtrack... It's just perfect. I can't wait for Kane & Lynch 2. Let me tell you something.. If you don't like Kane & Lynch, then there's something wrong with you.
