JAPAN: PSP holds tight at top

Sony’s re-designed handheld makes it three weeks at the top of the Japanese hardware charts

Japanese charts body Media Create reports that Sony’s PSP handheld has successfully claimed the top spot of the region’s hardware charts for the third consecutive week.

Despite a drop in sales of over 175,000 units, PSP still beats its closest contender, Nintendo’s DS, by 30,000 units. PSP’s newly found success has coincided with the release of the Slim & Lite version of the machine, which has now sold over 580,000 units.
