Tom Clancy and Blazing Angels help publisher’s sales climb 50 per cent year on year
It’s been a good start to the financial year for Ubisoft, with the French publisher enjoying a sales spike of 50 per cent year on year for the half year ending September 30th.
Total sales for the period were €261 million, 52 per cent higher than in the same period last year. Sales for the quarter ending September 30th hit €127 million, a 25 per cent improvement on last year.
Ubisoft praised the performance of the PS3, PSP and PC iterations of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, as well as crediting titles such as DS pair Jam Sessions and Imagine: Master Chef, as well as Blazing Angels on 360 and PC and Settlers on PC.
“The strong sales performance and our positioning on high gross margin consoles has lead to a sharp profitability improvement for the first half of ’07-‘08,” Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated. “We have a particularly strong games portfolio for the rest of the fiscal year and we expect to reap the benefits of the recent PS3 and Xbox 360 hardware price reductions."
Upcoming third quarter titles include highly rated pair Assassin’s Creed and Haze, as well as Naruto: Rise of a Ninja and Rayman Raving Rabbids 2.
