Gran Turismo 5 gets into Top Gear

Episodes of top BBC show to be aired via GT5’s video download service

Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital has struck a deal with the BBC that will see episodes of the massively popular Top Gear series available to download as part of GT5’s GT TV media service.

40 episodes chronicling Clarkson, May and Hammond’s vehicular exploits will be made available through the service, whilst Sony’s game is also set to feature as a regular part of the show’s Test Track section.

"We at Polyphony are great fans of the world's best motoring programme, Top Gear, so we're delighted to be collaborating with BBC Worldwide to deliver Top Gear content via Gran Turismo,” Polyphony Digital president Kazunori Yamauchi stated.

Gran Turismo has featured on the motoring show before, when Clarkson compared his time racing a real Honda NSX around the Californian Laguna Seca racing track to the time he was able to achieve racing the same vehicle on the same track in PS2 title Gran Turismo 4.

He was faster in the game, incidentally, despite his insistence on using the d-pad instead of the analogue stick. Imagine how quick he could have been if he’s wielded the joypad properly!

This is fantastic news and its more innovitive idea's that can hopefully get the PS3 moving. The formula of the best motoring T.V. show (and the best show on T.V,) and the best car racing video game (arguably) is surely a dead cert that the game will be huge and that this game will sell the consoles!

Innovation at it's best! The network will one day combine to bring related areas together, for example games/movies/music. All will be networked delivered via digital distribution. How long until Sony partners with BBC/SKY and start delivering more content? We know the PS3 freeview box/recorder (HD) is also on it's way. Imagine Pro Evolution Soccer 9, with built in network of downloadable football mathces? The PS3 has this very potential, a product of the future for networked devices.

Im amazed Wasib.
When theres a new feature on the PS3 you can plug it while conversing incredibly coherently but when theres a 360 article you mind seems to devolve into the brain of a 5 year old spouting the same fanboy comments.

Hopefully one day I can do a few laps around the Top Gear track from the comfort of my own home.

Kev?

What does this have to do with the 360? This is about the PS3 and the network possibilities. And what fanboy comments? Give me evidence please, before making wild accusations.
