Frogster looks to leap into UK market

Partner sought with MMO title Spellborn to spearhead drive

German publisher Frogster Interactive Pictures is gearing up to bolster its presence in the UK market, leading the charge with its forthcoming MMO title Spellborn.

The firm will be looking to duplicate the heavy marketing drive it has scheduled for Germany here in the UK, and will be looking to forge a number of corporate partnerships in order to facilitate this.

“In Germany, we’ll put big marketing power behind this Triple-A title,” said Dirk Weyel, COO of Frogster. “In the UK, we’re looking for a partner to do the same thing over there, as well, and are already have some promising contacts – but again, are looking for more.

"Regarding press in the UK and international, we already see huge interest from online and print magazines and website, and met some of the big players on Games Convention in Leipzig. We’re also still looking for partners for all kind of marketing and publishing co operations and welcome everybody to get into contact with us.”

“We are building up the number of companies working with us in the UK, making sure we have all the market access we need at the moment. The British market is an important part in our long-term international growth strategy.”

Weyel claims the title is different enough to stand out in a well established genre, thanks largely to its control system – which garnered enough interest in Japan to ensure record figures were stumped up for the publishing rights.

“The advanced control system is what has convinced our Japanese partner to get their exclusive sub license for the Japanese market for one of the highest fees ever been paid for a PC game over there.”
