Target removes Rockstar’s PSP title from shelves following hidden content scandal
It has been confirmed that US entertainment retailer Target has removed the PSP version of Rockstar’s Manhunt 2 from its North American stores following the news that it can be hacked to reveal the content that was cut to appease ratings body the ESRB.
Following widespread internet rumours, GameSpot got the official word from a Target spokesperson, who stated: "Target strives to provide merchandise that will appeal to a wide variety of guests. We also want guests to be comfortable with the purchasing decisions they make at Target.
“All video games and computer software sold at Target currently carry ratings by the ESRB, from early childhood through mature audiences. While Manhunt 2 was given a Mature rating by the ERSB, we received additional information that players can potentially view previously filtered content by altering the game code.
“As a result, we have decided not to carry the game."
Manhunt 2 remains banned in the UK following a failed BBFC appeal.

Oh man
it is getting boing this story of "we know what is good for you" coming from every non sense person from "around the bussiness", yes , in quotes, because those complaining dont know a thing about gaming, but still, have a voice, backed by the consoles and resellers companies... I have to say again, a true shame for our industry, as nobody backs up rockstar o n this matter...
Re: Oh man
Every game can be hacked!
I suggest Target remove every game for every platform from all stores!
Re: Oh man
it's not that it was hacked you moron... it is the content they are disputing...
Re: Oh man
The ESRB has already come out on this in favor of Rockstar. There is no content that violates the M rating. Target could decide they don't like the content, but they specifically said the reason they are removing the game is because a hack to the game code removes filtering of the content. Perhaps they don't understand that the filtering is merely a blurring filter and not an access filter. In any event, Kal El is right. Any game can be hacked and this is not a good reason to pull a game they already chose to carry.
Re: Oh man
Thank God one retailer has seen sense. This material should be banned from every store.
Total Idiots
It just shows how little Target understand what they are doing in the game market. There are films in their video department that are vastly worse.
Manhunt 2 is nasty but that is no reason to stop adults buying it.
This really is just like burning books.
