New publishing force snaps up Lego Star Wars developer
Warner Bros, the new force in the games publishing sector, is to acquire leading developer Travellers’ Tales.
The studio will keep its name, and will continue to work with current partners such as Lego, LucasArts and Guinness World Records.
"TT Games is very successful and respected in the game development and publishing world," Warner Bros chairman and CEO Barry Meyer stated. "They are a great fit for us and the right next step for Warner Bros as we grow into a significant presence in the games space."
Tom Stone, MD of TT Games Publishing, added: "Warner Bros has an extraordinary track record in nurturing and developing intellectual property in television, in movies and now in games. That history combined with their world class distribution muscle promises a very exciting future for all of us at TT Games.”

We are going to see a lot of this.
The big global media companies are motoring into gaming with intent. Because gaming will be bigger than film or TV. So they have no option if they want to remain viable.
Eventually these people could very easily own all game publishing. This is because the economies of scale are so great and because they can get multiple use out of their vast amount of IP.
The only thing that could stop them is digital distribution and the platform holders are keeping the lid on that.
