The worst kept secret in the history of gaming gets final and official confirmation, with Warner Bros at the reigns
The industry has known since early last year that a Lego Batman game was in development, but until now developer TT Games has remained tight-lipped – but following the studio’s capture by growing game force Warner last week, the upcoming superhero outing has now been confirmed.
Lego Batman: The Videogame will arrive on next-gen consoles and PC next year, with Warner handling the European publishing and distribution of the title. The game will see some of Batman’s most well known enemies escaping from Gotham’s Arkham Asylum and causing general mischief.
“Batman spans several generations as one of the most popular DC Super Heroes, and Lego Batman will appeal to several generations of gamers who grew up idolizing the Dark Knight and playing with Lego toys,” Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment’s senior vice president of development and production Samantha Ryan stated.
“Working with TT Games, we are confident they will continue their Lego games’ success with this title, and we will expand our publishing endeavours with the introduction of the Lego Batman franchise.”
TT Games director Tom Stone added: “We’re sure our fans will be excited to know that we have the same fantastic team at Traveller’s Tales responsible for Lego Star Wars and Lego Star Wars II working on Lego Batman.”
