Revenues on the up at Vivendi Games

World of Warcraft noted for strong performance as subscriber base continues to climb

Publisher Vivendi Games has reported a 19 per cent increase in revenues for its third fiscal quarter compared to the same period last year, reaching €216 million. Year to date revenue stands at €716 million, a massive 50 per cent increase on the same period in the previous year.

World of Warcraft was identified as the star performer. Expansion back The Burning Crusade performed well for the company and helped the total subscriber base for the game grow to 9.3 million. A further expansion, The Wrath of the Lich King, is due out next year.

Overall results for Vivendi, incorporating its other media and entertainment interests, saw revenues reach €5.42 billion, a year on year increase of 11 per cent, with earnings hitting €1.3 billion.
