JAPAN: PS3 resurgence continues

Sony’s machine outsells Nintendo’s Wii, though Mario dominates software charts

After yesterday’s claims from Sony CEO Howard Stringer that the recent PS3 price drop has seen sales of the machine rocket in North America, the latest sales data from Media Create show that Sony’s machine outsold even the mighty Wii in Japan for the week ending Novemeber 11th.

It’s sales of 55,924 were well ahead of Wii’s 34,546. And after last week’s surprise victory in the territory it’s back to business as usual for Xbox 360, which sold 5,817 units. Still, the DS and PSP both continue to outperform all the other machines in the market, selling 78,884 and 58,964 respectively.

However, in the software charts Nintendo’s Mario Party DS decimated the opposition, shifting 234,708 copies. Other titles performing well in the territory include Super Mario Galaxy and Sony’s Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction.

Why do you say Ratchet & Clank performed well, with only 12 000 sales ?

That's very LOW for a AAA title.
