Record sales growth for Codemasters

Stunning US performance sees Britsoft outfit enjoy its most successful ever year

Spearheaded by a 151 per cent increase in US net sales and a 332 per cent growth in US dollar sales, Codemasters is celebrating its most impressive ever year for the 12 months ending June 30th 2007.

Overall group sales for the period increased by 38 per cent, hitting £71.5 million. Big gaming successes such as Colin McRae: Dirt and Overlord saw the firm boost its operating profits from £1.1 million in 2006 to £5.6 million. Other top performers included Brian Lara International Cricket 2007 and The Lord of the Rings: Shadows of Angmar.

The US success comes as a result of a new focus on sales, marketing and distribution in the region over the past two years. Along with the seven Codemasters titles that charted in the UK throughout the period, three games also managed to impact the US Top 20.

A £40.5 million investment in development has also reaped rewards, leading to the firm winning the UK Developer of the Year award at Future’s recent Golden Joystick Awards.

Codemasters chief executive Rod Cousens stated: “The company has never been in a better position to innovate and grow. Codemasters has the right team and the right technology to compete on a global scale in the interactive entertainment industry.  Our results demonstrate that Codemasters is firing on all cylinders.”
