Haze and Splinter Cell Conviction delayed

Next-gen shooter misses Christmas, though FPS fans buoyed by news of Rainbow Six Vegas 2

Despite suggestions last week that Ubisoft’s highly anticipated FPS Haze would indeed make it to retail before Christmas, the latest financial results from the firm confirm that a 2008 release is now on the cards.

No firm release date has been given beyond saying that the game will arrive in the firm’s financial fourth quarter, which ends in March.

In addition, upcoming stealth sequel Splinter Cell Conviction will now not arrive until April at the earliest with the confirmation that it is not scheduled for release until Ubisoft’s fiscal 2008-2009 year, which begins on April 1st.

However, there was some good news for next-gen shooting fans, with the official confirmation that Tom Clancy’s Rianbow Six Vegas 2 will arrive before the end of March.

Does it really matter for Sony? It's more of a hit to Ubisoft, as I doubt Haze will move consoles. After all, I wouldn't hold my hopes very high on a console shooter made by Ubi (Red Steel? Any console FarCry?).

Haze looked **** anyway so hopefully they'll have a chance to make a better game out of it come march. Sony need something worth playing on the PS3 that isnt available else where and pushing Ubisoft to get this out before Christmas would have done more harm than good.

May be they just don't want to get caught behind Naughty Dog and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, which is probably going to clean up this Xmas on the PS3. If they wait until the New Year then they're more likely to get a number 1 hit.

Haze didn't look up to snuff when they said they would release it. Hopefully, this should give the developers the time they need to perform the necessary tweaks that this game needs.
