Sony strongly denies possibility of PSP phone

Platform holder ‘categorically’ refutes rumour
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has shot down the rumour that it is working with Sony Ericsson on a PlayStation-related mobile phone.
An SCEE spokesperson told MCV:
“We can categorically state that we are not currently working with Sony Ericsson on any form of PlayStation phone.
“We feel that [SCE co-chief operating officer] Jim Ryan has been misquoted [in saying the idea is “definitely plausible”].
"We’ve already lodged a complaint with the publication that ran these quotes.
“We hold constant dialogue with Sony partners – Sony Pictures, the hardware team and Sony Ericsson – but there are no collaborations happening between us on a PSP or PlayStation phone.
That’s totally untrue – and goes for now and the foreseeable future.”
The rumour gathered pace after Ryan reportedly told The Economic Times:
“Convergence with the two arms working together is definitely plausible. It is hugely intellectually seductive to have a console oriented phone.
“While the Cybershot and Walkman are better selling brands from the Sony fold, Sony Ericsson and PlayStation would make a strong success story for Sony.”

Sony is not a joined up organisation.
They have lost billions by not using their movie IP anywhere nearly effectively in the gaming division.
Likewise their phone and gaming people live on different planets.

Put in bluetooth in the PSP and make your calls via bluetooth...and use the handheld for gaming...Problem is what if you are getting a call in the middle of gaming? What about battery life? What if someone steals your PSP? There goes your phone as well...
Many complications.

Why would u need a "PSP Phone" when u hav a PSP and own a cellphone?Whats the Different about the "PSP Phone" Hek I bet the iPhone will be a lot better than the "PSP Phone"

This is just cheap market research-they publish roumors swinging either way and see what the response it. If its mostly positive, they do it. If not they dont. Or maybe they do the opposite, just to surprise us :-) I wont buy one anyway. My phone is already too big.

and this article were both in the MCV daily digest....WHICH IS IT!!
anyway...its a stupid idea, the psp is too big for a phone, and the volume is way too quiet, even with the volume limiter turned off. I can barely hear music when travelling on a train, let alone hold a conversation if it were to be the same volume.
