But Sony disputes rival’s claims, insisting PS3 had a strong Thanksgiving in US
Xbox 360 platform holder Microsoft has boldly claimed that its next-gen console outperformed rival PS3 over the Thanksgiving week in North America – but Sony America has fought back, climbing Microsoft’s figures are ‘way off’.
Microsoft says that estimated retail figures suggest that it sold 310,00 units for the week beginning November 18th according to CNBC – a figure the firm says represents a two to one bettering of Sony’s PS3 sales, the numbers of which have not yet been revealed.
The numbers were also not far behind Nintendo’s bumper Wii sales of 350,000.
However, SCEA has subsequently disputed the claims, telling The Seattle Post Intelligencer: "It's SCEA’s policy not to disclose our unit sales numbers until NPD numbers are officially released which will be December 13th.
“However, I can assure you that Microsoft's estimates of our PS3 unit sales numbers are way off and they did not outsell PS3 two to one during Black Friday week.”

Re: Not so fast
How is comparison to sales in Japan in the least bit relevant ?
We all know 360 is not a big seller in Japan, and therefore sales in this region are in no way reflective of what the sales are/will be in the US, where the Xbox has a much larger appeal.
The fact is, it is the lead up to Xmas, the biggest time of year for the video games market, and both Sony & Microsoft will be having a war of words during this period - just like between two opposing teams in advance of any big sporting event, and we wont know the true sales figures, and who beat who by how much until December 13th.
