Is this Square's way of saying 'our next bunch of games, including FF, will come out on X360'?

Why does the PS3 console have to be "clearly" defined?! What good would that do? What would it mean? Why does something have to stick to only doing one job?

It's kind of like saying to the shop Tchibo, are you a retail shop or a coffee shop? It's both and just offers more. That's the beauty of the PS3 - it's a games console, but just offers more than every other games console. This article is so ***.

Problem is, although PS3 can play games, there are not that many out that are worth playing. Those that are out on 360 as well play better on 360 ijn almost every case. When an exclusive does come out, like Rachet & Clank it hardly sells. - Never got into the top ten even on launch week. While, with the notable exception of Mass Effect, most 360 exclusives debut at no. 1. Sales are what matters to software companies. This is just another software company who are fed up with Sony's poor marketing stategy. So PS3 sales are up 200% - so what if they are still selling less than the other two week on week. It does not matter if PS3 or 360 is the better machine. Just what machine can sell most games and generate most revenue. 360 is Far & Away in the lead here. Go into a games shop and listen to the public talking between themselves. Wii = toy PS3 = bluray movies 360 =Games machine.

I think the article is about the fact that while the ps3 is a "jack of all trades"i.e it can do a lot of different things, unfortunately, It is a master of none. The 360 has a solid,varied collection of games, great online service(although you have to pay for it,but i guess you get what you pay for..)and it plays multimedia. it is first and foremost a games console, the other little things like messenger and downloadable movies are optional extras, and this was clearly the case. Sony have tried to put all their eggs in one basket and put equal efforts into making their machine a multimedia centre that also plays games itseems. I am very disappointed with the ps3 games at the moment, the hardware is apparently so awkward to program that companies like square are more likely to defect to a more accessable, game engine friendly system. I can honestly say i havent switched my ps3 on for about 2 months and unless games get better and more stable(half life 2:orange box anyone..jesus..the game engine is about 4-5 years old!! why cant the ps3 handle it? its blisteringly fast on the 360!!) i will be selling my expensive divx player(which xbox 360 can now play..) even the 40 gb consoles are starting to show hardware failures now. I remember when i used to laugh at the 360 owners for the first batch going **** up and overheating, and remember all of the sony owners goading away, KARMA anyone? Lets face it..time will tell. SONY, PULL YOUR FINGER OUT!!

Actually Square Enix has released NO games for the PS3 the MMORPG which is the PS2 and PC Final Fantasy game and Sylpheed which well is not that great but still 2 games from Square Enix on the 360.

Then you got Last Remnant which seems to be on PS3 and 360.

But as far as Final Fantasy 13 goes I think that will stay on the PS3 mainly because Square Enix are concentrating on making an amazing FF game on one platform along with perhaps needing the additional space? Who knows.

If you look at the PS3 ads then look at the 360 ads which one is showing the machine as a games console?

The primary function of any games console is to play games, when developers are making games they want to ensure the userbase is of course high, the brand name is well known and the technology is there to perhaps give them some challenge.

They dont care if it can play movies or has loads of USB ports, wifi, bluetooth etc they need to know that it plays games.

Its all well and good saying the PS3 is many things but on one hand its showing off as a blu-ray player, then a media hub then as a computer, then as a games console.

For me I want my console to play games, if it can do anymore than that then greats its a huge bonus.

Exactly, this isnt about showing signs of 'defection' its about Square saying:
'we're putting a lot of time, effort and MONEY into our next generation games and if Sony dont sort out their marketing strategy soon, we aint gonna get that MONEY back!'

Its tough times for all the developers that have stood by Sony all these years as the PS3 isnt living up to expectations, yet.
If these companies want to stay in business, they have to sell units. If they have to release their games on 360 to sell units, then thats what they'll do.

Jesus! I bought my PS3 mainly for the B/R, nevermind the H/D gaming. Who cares what they class the consol as, i use mine so much, i bought another for the lounge, and would buy another if i had the need for it. The 360 is dated now, the PS3 is the new kid on the block!

See now I admire the PS3 for its features and build quality but for its first year out it really has only sold on the basis thats its a blu-ray player not a games console I work in a GS and almost eveyone ive sold was on that basis. Heres to 2008 and year of great games.
P.S for you fanboys my 360 is still way better :P

i think you people are jumping the gun, im not impressed with the xbox at all, The Xbox is getting creamed in japan and most of the world territories except mainly the US, where the ps3 is getting outsold 2-1. Im sorry but the xbox is inferior tech,its clumsy and noisy and breaks and gets hot, why do i want to play superior ea games? they suck!!!!
anyways i think the ps3 will eventually win, no matter how u spin it. The ps3 should have been launched this year!

So what you're trying to say is that 360 can play games but do little else wel at all without having to pay good money for it. Playstation 3's low sales figures in my eyes have no simple explanation. Whether it's due to fickle fans or gameplay errors I can't be sure. But look hard enough and you'll find that the most successful games usually have little or no marketing when the ones with nothing to boast but bullet points on their boxes are often the ones lining stores like Game.

Games! Its all about the games! You can make 500 games
if they suck; they suck! Look at Sony's predicament now,
they can't even keep an exclusive game title. I have to say the machine is not graphically superior to the 360 in most cases worse. Sony might want to change their focus "AGAIN" to draw in a different audience, the hardcore gamers are going away with good reason!

Why is it that whenever something negative is mentioned about a console that all the fanboys start foaming at the mouth. No console is perfect. I wish we all could just realize that pointing out the weaknesses in consoles that we love only serves to make them better in future iterations. Fanboys, please, get over yourselves.
