No More Heroes censored in Europe

Upcoming Wii title to see gore cut, whilst American version will be unedited

Rising Star Games, the publisher of upcoming Wii title No More Heroes, has confirmed that that European version of the game will see the same cuts experienced by Japanese gamers when it is released over here next year.

In North America, however, publisher Ubisoft has stated that the game will not be edited.

"We're publishing the same version of No More Heroes that has been successfully received in Japan," Rising Star MD Martin Defries stated. "Ultimately, it's a fantastic game to play and that's all we care about at Rising Games."

No More Heroes is the latest outing from cult games director Goichi Suda, the man behind Gamecube and PS2 curiosity Killer 7.

Idiots........

Right, lets see, we've managed to succeed in the west and in europe by bringing over all these great games from japan un-edited.

Lets slap everyone in europe in the face and start messing around with the games before we release them.

No thanks Nintendo. Give us what the rest of the world is getting. Its bad enough that we get everything last, now we have to get everything edited too?

Come on........

Ironic. I chose to import a copy of the Witcher from the UK because the North American version was censored to remove nudity. The variations between what's acceptable on each side of the pond continue to amuse and upset me, and it seems like we're moving ever closer to a world where anyone who is sincere about taking a stance against censorship will have to be very careful about where they spend their money.

Nudity???

Malygris,

Why did you want a copy of the Witcher with Nudity? What did it add to the game content?

It's not about what game content was missing .. the whole point is that it WAS censored -- and what for? To cover up a view of some cartoon/drawn ******s?

It's just pathetic what people are allowing game companies to get away with these days, absolutely pathetic. WAKE UP PEOPLE!! This is YOUR money you're spending! Tell the companies that you are NOT buying their games until they stop butchering them. But, of couse, you won't -- because you're weak, we all are. Except me. I'm not buying this game. I'm pirating it.

Yeah, that's right. You heard me. I'm from the UK and I'm annoyed. Why should I get a product that is half of what America gets? Screw that bull****. I'll just torrent the game and laugh in the face of Rising Star Games. Rising Star? I think not. Epic failure.

Why bother rating a game M for something that you take out of it? Does this seem silly to anyone else?

I already told Rising Star Games my opinion in a friendly, but serious email. And I took part in those online petitions. And I won't buy that censored European version. That's all I can and will do. Maybe if half of a year has passed, they'll be selling No More Heroes at a low budget price due to the fact that it will be a flop. But even then I don't think I will buy that. I hope that it will sell hardly... That's what Suda51 and his company get for releasing a censored game in Europe. And it's a shame that Rising Star Games didn't oppose that censorship. If I were Rising Star Games manager, I would not have undersigned any contracts before Suda51's company had agreed to release the uncensored version in Europe... For long enough European gamers have been at disadvantage now. The time is right to send a clear signal to the game developing companies.
