Four titles break the two million sales barrier whilst eight pass the one million mark
Nintendo of America is predicting that the DS will emerge as the best selling console of the year in North America, with sales for the year to date already topping the six million mark – that equates to one machine sold every five seconds.
"There's no letup in sight," NoA's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications George Harrison stated. "Nintendo DS appeals strongly to both core and casual gamers, and its momentum is set to propel us into 2008."
In addition to the hardware milestone, four games have now sold over two million units in the US – New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart DS, Pokemon Diamond and Super Mario 64 DS. And eight games have now passed the one million mark – Brain Age, Pokemon Pearl, Animal Crossing: Wild World, Big Brain Academy and the four different versions of pet-sim Nintendogs.

PSP fight back!
Once people realise they can play Lair remotely on their PSPs we're going to see DS sales drop sharply!
Re: PSP fight back!
I can't see that happening at all. I think the general public need to be more educated of the features of the psp for it to really take off.
Re: PSP fight back!
Like the analogue stick?
Re: PSP fight back!
I think that UMD is underrated as a format.
Once the general pubic are educated about it's potential, i think we'll see it take off like Minidisc, SACD and Blu-ray
Re: PSP fight back!
haha Reythor! ok for one every time someone comes and asks me about buying a psp they barely know anything about it only that it plays games! and I get that allot. and lots of people don't even know that you can download games for it. not hardcore gamers of course just the general public.
Re: PSP fight back!
You should tell them about being able to play Lair!
Re: PSP fight back!
Trust me I do! I think I'm the only person in the shop pushing the PS3 and PSP! sometimes I think the staff in Game are paid by Nintendo
Re: PSP fight back!
I agree Dylan, i don't understand the demand for nintendo sometimes. I mean, sure they get all the new creative games and novel controls, but the graphics are terrible - not even HD!!
Re: PSP fight back!
It's weird isn't it. You'd think people would be more interested in Blu-Ray, UMDs, remote play, HD-Ready, Lair and Memory Sticks. Instead they seem to want to play games and have fun!? What is wrong with people?
