Daily Mirror claims Brits are flocking across the Channel thanks to UK console shortage
The current shortage of Wii consoles on the UK High Street is well documented, but it seems that many UK shoppers are venturing abroad to claim their machines, according to The Daily Mirror.
The newspaper claims that French Wii stock is more plentiful than here on this side of the Channel, with machines costing around £150. Queues are apparently becoming a regular occurance at Calais-based retailers.
One rep from tech store Micromania told the paper that “English interest is phenomenal”.

I just walked into Zavvi in London this morning (known as Virgin) and bought one for £180.
Wii Bundle overpriced
I walked into Zavvi in LEEDS, there had Wiis in stock but were only selling 5 game bundles for £350. I did not buy the overpriced bundle

The local Asda store had a delievery yesterday and 30 units disappeard almost instantly.
I'm guessing most of the people that are going over to the continent are buying them just to sell on ebay. If you look at the listings, most of them now are European consoles rather than those bought from UK retailers.
Communication Breakdown
What we have here is a classic case of Wii fever, UK consumers are phoning French retailers enquiring about Wii availability and are greated with a confused reply of Wii? Oui? Oui, hence a sudden increase in Euro Tunnel and ferry traffic!
