Tiberium to combine first person shooting with tactical squad combat on 360, PS3 and PC
As reported by MCV last week, the rumours of a Command & Conquer themed first person shooter have proved correct, with EA’s confirmation that Tiberium will be released on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in Autumn 2008.
Seemingly a blend between the series’ traditional RTS formula and first person shooting, Tiberium is set on a war-ravaged Earth amidst the heat of an epic battle. Gamers will play as Forward Battle Commander Ricardo Vega, and take charge of an elite combat squad.
Though not much is known about the game as of yet, it appears that the game will still see players command multiple units as per regular Command & Conquer games, though they will also have the option to take control of the action first hand.
“After two years of pre-production, it is exciting to finally reveal this game and its rich fiction to the world,” EA Los Angeles executive producer Chris Plummer stated.
“Some of the weapons and mechanics are truly innovative for a first-person game. We’re very proud to be part of a project that has the potential to really make a mark on the canon of sci-fi fantasy fiction.”

The studio’s VP and general manager Mike Verdu added: “We are growing Tiberium from a simple backdrop to a fully realized universe with its own unique, hybrid squad-based shooter gameplay. This is the birth of a new franchise - we couldn’t be more excited.”
