Amazon sells 17 Wii’s per second

Nintendo’s machine vanishes from online retailer’s virtual shelves

The US arm of online retail colossus Amazon has stated that Nintendo’s Wii was one of its best selling products over Christmas, adding that on the occasions when the machine was in stock it sold at a rate of 17 units per second.

Super Mario Galaxy and Call of Duty 4 were also named as its top sellers in the retailer’s game category, Next-Gen reports.

The website’s busiest day was December 10th, when customers sold over 5.4 million times. It also added that 99 per cent of its Christmas orders shipped on time.
