Allows users to turn their handhelds into fully-functioning sat navs

Sony has confirmed that its GPS add-on Go! Explore will arrive at European retail this spring.

Go! Explore includes the software on UMD and a GPS receiver accessory that will link the console to the worldwide global satellite system, thus being able to pinpoint its position anywhere on the planet.

The software itself allows users to explore their surroundings in either 2D or 3D, and has been designed for inner-city use on foot or also for longer journeys in the car.

An in-car charger will also be released alongside the package.

The Go! Explore kit on its own will cost €119 (just shy of £90), or it can be bought with a car mount for €149 (£110). A bundle with the PSP console itself will cost €299. UK prices have not yet been confirmed.

How much is the 520? Froogle says over £200, though one claim of £175. Either way, the PSP bundle is £200 ish which includes a 3D-capable handheld console! Sounds pretty good value to me.

Most important questions are:
- how quickly does the GPS find the satellites?
- does the software do turn-by-turn voice-directions?
