Microsoft to buy Logitech?

Traders hint at takeover bid as Microsoft buys more shares in the peripheral firm

Speculation regarding a Microsoft takeover of Swiss-based peripherals firm Logitech has grown amongst traders, as the industry spanning giant increased its shares in the company to 12 per cent.

According to Reuters, rumors are circulating that Microsoft will launch a takeover bid for Logitech at 48 Franks per share, representing a premium of 38 per cent.

Such a move would leave Microsoft the largest peripherals manufacturer in the world.

Logitech – which is estimated to be worth 9.16 billion according to Wednesday’s closing share price of 34.8 Franks – is due to report its fiscal third-quarter results on January 17th.

huh ? MS no longer own Bungie and have missed the boat on such acquisitions as Bizarre Creations etc - you can't really say they buy everything. This is just the knee jerk reaction people have to MS.

Why God Why! Logitech are a decent company making fantastic products and they have excellent customer service. If Microsoft do take them over it's bye bye to all that - and no more Playstation peripherals!!!

Why not, if there is good business case. Especially if they can push new technology in the context of a trusted existing brand. It is dog eat dog, survival of the fittest commercial world. MS is one of the fittest and strongest business out there at the moment whether you like it or not. It will shape the world to its advantage in whatever way it can. That's human nature I'm afraid....
