Lawsuit blocking Xbox Live status updates

Legal action means Microsoft can no longer update gamers about status of struggling online network

Following a period of ongoing problems that saw many gamers go without access to multiplayer gaming over Christmas, Microsoft has now confessed that it is unable to update gamers as to its progress in addressing the issues.

Microsoft previously stated that a high number of new Live subscribers over the Christmas break mean that many existing users had trouble accessing its network.

As a result, an American lawyer has decided to sue the firm for $5 million, claiming the outages constituted a breach of contract – so now online voice Major Nelson can no longer advise gamers of Microsoft’s efforts to address the issues.

In a webcast released on his blog, Major Nelson stated: “Unfortunately a lawyer has decided to sue us, there is litigation, and once that happens I can no longer make a comment. I can’t say anything so I apologise, but go talk to the lawyer. That’s all I can say about that.”

Surely this lawyer has better things to do then chance his arm and make a name for himself.

WHY are there such stupid mo-fos in the world whose life is so pathetic they need to sue Microsoft for a few weeks of poor service. I mean, for goodness sake, what the heck can they do to make what, four weeks equal $5million?

These people sueing Microsoft should die. Quite literally, they should get a knife and kill themselves. That would be the best solution for all involved.

Microsoft also apologized and will be releasing a free game fas a way to say sorry. I think the lawyer isnt so worried about a "promise" as he is the money. I'm with my man ANGRY on this one. 5 Million, come on now!

OK for those of you are kinda pissed at the folks in Texas for probably losing the rest of us any compensation, here is a little info. The following are the people involved in the case. I couldn't find emails for the people themselves, but the lawyers was on the filing (which can be seen found here

http://blog.seattletimes.nwsource.com/techtracks/2008/01/xbox_live_holiday_outages_prompts_class_action_law.html" onclick="window.open ( this.href ); return false;" class="comment_url" >http://blog.seattl....html

So I think anyone who is upset should let the lawyer know about it via email or phone. Maybe if enough of us let him know how we feel, he'll pass that on to the twits suing MS.

Lets face it folks MS wasn't going to tell you jack anyway. Now they hide behind a lawyer saying, "We can't say anything now...blame someone else" They had no intention of clearing any of this up at all, so why not blame them instead of acting like dogs and following the stick they throw the other direction.

Some of you people are fools. I am a hardcore gammer in the UK. I play on Xbox live all the time and have done for years now. Now i know it is annoying that Xbox live is having some problems, but can you honestly expect that the service will or would never run into some problems. As far as some sad lawyer sueing MS, well i would like to know on what grounds he has a case? The service is and has always been running, just with some problems. It would be better for all of us if MS was just honest about what is wrong yes, but what large company is honest about things when they go wrong?? I feel that it would just be fair if MS gave us all a couple of months free on our subsciption. We have all just got to used to having a perfect running Xbox live service. I ask people and sad lawyers to give them room to fix and improve the service instead of dealing with a law suit.

Wow, Xbox's famed 'Live' in action here! Or not as the case may be. Really worth paying so much for such a patchy unreliable service now fanboys?

Contracts.
Sign them.
Break them.
Pay them.

Good for the lawyer.
