And Hirai still believes there is a chance 11 million will be sold by March
Speaking to Bloomberg, Sony’s games president Kaz Hirai has revealed that the firm sold 1.2 million PS3 consoles in Europe in the last five weeks of 2007.
He also refused to concede that Sony is unlikely to hit the 11 million sales target, that it had previously set itself, by the end of its financial year in March, stating:
"We haven't made any conclusion whether we have to give it up. It depends on how aggressively dealers buy our PS3 inventory.''
Bloomberg also claims that analysts expect to Sony to sell 8 million PS3’s for the year ending March 31st, with Microsoft selling 9.1 million Xbox 360’s and Nintendo 19 million Wii’s.

OK...
I don't think Sony will hit 11m by March, but I am mightily impressed that they only sold 1.1 less than the XBox 360 last year considering the game line up from launch to just before Xmas was thin - and not to mention the higher price at the start of the year.
I believe people had wrongly written off the PS3 in its infancy and I predict (I'm no analyst but I can still make my own predictions) that PS3 sales will only increase when the likes of Gran Turismo, MGS4 and GTA IV hit the shelves.
Microsoft should start to panic, Nintendo don't have to as I don't think Nintendo and Sony are in direct competition. Many people are starting to own at least two consoles - the Wii and one other. And the PS3 is looking more and more attractive every day - especially when you consider it's other features that the 360 doesn't have.
Re: OK...
They will never meet this target.
Don't forget Sony always mix sales numbers and shipped numbers... That's not the same thing at all.
Re: OK...
I'm genuinely surprised to see a positive comment regarding the Playstation 3 from an MCV registered user tbh. Well done Mr Zircon.
