
New Enterbrain figures prove Nintendo console’s domestic popularity
Japanese sales for Nintendo’s Wii have broken through the five million barrier, reports MCV's exclusive media partner Enterbrain.
The research company announced that, as of January 20th, the console has sold an estimated 5,019,337 units in just over one year.
Also revealed in the data were approximate sales figures for the top five Wii games, headed up by Wii Sports with 2,663,938 copies sold. Following closely behind is Wii Play with sales of 2,139,084 units, while Mario Party 8 comes in third place with 1,153,648 copies sold.
Also showing strong popularity are Wii Fit, which has sold 1,113,626 copies since its December launch, and the list is rounded off by the highly praised Super Mario Galaxy, which has sold approximately 843,961 copies.
