JAPAN: PSP Skype delayed

Japanese launch of VOIP service encounters microphone problems; Euro launch still on

A problem with the bundled microphone accessory has delayed the launch of Sony’s Skype bundle for PSP in Japan.

Kotaku reports that some of the components in the PSP accessory failed to meet Skype’s certification standards, and preferring not to launch without an official peripheral, Sony has placed its release on hold.

However, Sony has said that the problems will not interfere with the European of US launches which are expected to coincide with a firmware update for the machine at the end of the month.

No way! When has anything been released in the Europe before Japan? Surely if there was a problem with the hardware not being certified, it would be not certified for Europe either?
