Gizmondo to return this year

Shock return of games brand coming in 2008; user generated content key

A new Gizmondo website has gone live and promises the return of one of gaming’s most notorious brands by the end of the year.

“The legend is reborn”, begins the flashy video posted over at gizmondolive.com, which also references an “open source environment,” a “Gizmondo live marketplace,” and “Create your own games” – from which we can assume that the new project will be based around user generated content. Very few other details are present on the site.

The Gizmondo brand has a controverisal history - online reports yesterday suggest that former boss Stefan Eriksson was released from jail yesterday.

Oh for crying out loud.

Rising again in 2008.
Dying again in 2009.

'create your own games' - because nobody will be stupid enough to give us money this time around.

Seriously?

I also want to know what psychic worlds are - perhaps some mind control technology to trump the wii?

Anyone else thinking 'once bitten, twice shy?'

Worst idea ever! Let's see if they open up another store in London that doesn't sell anything.

I never understand the negative feedback the first version received. I for one was very happy with mine. I always found the GPS and VGA camera handy additions to the little gadget.

Eagerly awaiting more news...

Alias,
If you've ever tried playing a game on it you'd understand why!

Can i please have a job at MCV?
Because I don't have a tendancy to write articles with spelling mistakes or incorrect information.

Which your writers certainly seem to have a knack of doing nowadays.

Gizmondo was a great little machine with several cool games. Quite powerful for its time.

Alas, the top head of Gizmondo people were embezzlers.

I always wanted one too. Their plan makes sense. Let another comapny make it and sell it in China while selling it in the west dirt cheap. I'd still buy one (without the ads).

ha ha haa ha aha aha ah ahha ahaha

I had to write an article about the opening of their store. It was bizzare.

All the software cases had screenshots on the back and then a disclaimer saying 'not actual screensots'

I got stuck speaking to a salesman who was convinced that Nintendo should be shaking in their boots.....

ha ha ha ha
