Upcoming shooter delayed, new Prince of Persia title announced, Splinter Cell rumours dismissed
Ubisoft has announced that forthcoming shooter Haze has been delayed until fiscal 2008-2009, having originally been scheduled to appear during the fourth quarter of 2007-08.
The publisher has raised its 2008-09 sales target to approximately €1 billion, compared with the previously-announced forecast of around €975 million, in order to take into account the game’s delay.
The current PS3 exclusive title (though the publisher has not ruled out the possibility that it will appear on PC and Xbox 360) offers four way cooperative play, with a plot that sees the population dependant on a drug called Nector.
Ubisoft has also confirmed the release of new a new Prince of Persia title to be released in the 2008-2009 fiscal year, following the news that the property is to be developed into a motion picture.
Meanwhile, rumours that Splinter Cell: Conviction would be released on PS3 as well as 360 and PC, and that it would arrive on April 1st have been dispelled by the publisher, telling videogamer.com it is to arrive 2008-2009 as planned. “The game is not coming out on PS3 nor is it coming out on April 1. We're sticking to the original announcement", said a spokesperson.

Fat Cats.
The game was scheduled for end of 07-08 quarter, but now coming in first quarter of 08-09. This therefore means that the game could be delayed by only a couple of weeks, and is purely being done to keep Ubi shareholders happy. After all, 07-08 was an exceptionally good year for Ubi with Assassin's Creed topping the bill. So shareholders will be expecting a hefty bonus this year. But next year could have potentially been not be as good, so to keep the shareholders happy, they decide release Haze in the next financial year instead as it's bound to be a popular title. And at the end of next year, the shareholders will again get a large bonus.
The title of this article makes it sound like yet another opportunity for XBox fanboys to take an unfair swipe at the PS3 saying that developers are having difficulty with the PS3, but in fact it's not the case at all, it's just a corporate decision that is delaying this game - which is completely unfair to the consumer that wants to purchase this. I'm not impressed. If the game is ready or will be ready by the end of the 07-08 quarter, they should realease it at the earliest opportunity.
Re: Fat Cats.
This is typical Ubi they did the same with splinter cell double agent. When they did better than expected with the game King Kong. Now they are doing the same. They did better than they thought with Assasins Creed so now we the consumer has to wait for Haze and SC just so that their share holders have an even better fiscal year next year!!!! *******'s
