Activision shooter was the biggest game of the year according to ChartTrack, NPD and GFK figures
Combined data reveals that the Infinity Ward-developed title sold over seven million units worldwide in 2007, despite having only been released in November.
The mega-selling shooter has attracted critical acclaim and is also the number one Xbox Live title at the moment, according to www.majornelson.com.
“We’re very excited about this achievement especially given so many competitive titles this year,” said senior vice president of global brand management at Activision Will Kassoy. “Consumer and critics agree that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is one of the best games ever created and further establishes Call of Duty as one of the premier brands in the industry. This ground-breaking game and franchise continue to establish new standards by which all other action games will be judged.”
