Management shake-up at Woolworths Group

Woolworths has announced that Lloyd Wigglesworth has stepped down as managing director of EUK.

Wigglesworth has led the distribution arm of Woolworths through a number of changes during his time at EUK, including the acquisitions of THE and Bertram, and will also retire from the Board.

Steve Lewis, currently MD for Retail and Distribution at Woolworths, will now head up EUK.

The firm has also announced that Simon Turner joins Woolworths as retail and distribution operations director. He was previously regional director for Tesco in Wales.

"This series of management changes will leave Woolworths Group better positioned as we move into 2008 determined to drive the business forward," said chief executive Trevor Bish-Jones.

"EUK is now entering a different stage of its development, where the focus turns toward further improving customer service and enhancing operational efficiency. The new team is ideally suited to take EUK, now a substantial business with a strong market position, to the next phase of growth and to build on recent progress made in Woolworths."

Isn't it strange that the MD of the only part of Woolworths that is doing well has left? Bish-Jones really has managed to pull the wool over the eyes of the City - his performance is dreadful and his only salvation now is to move into EUK - come on the City - see Bish-Jones for what he is and lets see the end of his terrible reign.
