Nintendo reassures third-party publishers

‘Situation will change’ now partners have got to grips with Wii technology, says platform holder

Nintendo has responded to worries that only first-party titles are selling on the Wii, stating that it believes the situation is only temporary.

According to the company's third-quarter report meeting transcription, translated by MCV sister site Develop, the problem is simply one of the Wii still being a young system - and that, as such, Nintendo's internal teams currently have an significant advantage.

Got to grips with Wii technology??

I am kinda left scratching my head for 2 reasons,

1) The motion sensor technology has been around for years but no one ever really used it

2) The Wii is only slightly more powerful than the Cube

But the games look worse than cube games...Res Evil 0 looks miles better than Res Evil 4...

Now I know its not about the graphics on the Wii because Res Evil 4 is fantastic but surely with the additional power the game could look better or is it because many like myself are using HDTV's and it just makes it looks really bad?

Anyhow I just hope developers can make the games look even better on the Wii with the same great gameplay the Wiimote.

My Wii looks really good on my Bravia without any fussing around with settings, I'm not sure where all this 'Wii looking bad on HDTV' nonsense comes from. Perhaps from guess work rather than experience.

The problem is that Nintendo are a top of the line company for developing games with a wealth of experience and talent that could make great games on a microwave oven display if they had to.

They ought to stop showing everyone up and focus on putting HD video playback drives in their consoles and adding a more generic controller so that the industry can continue developing and publishing games like they always have.

Oh wait… that sounds a bit dull.

2# Maybe your wii looks good on the Bravia because you accept it as a poor TV & everything looks bad on it

Only kidding the Wii 1st and 3rd party publishers need to up the output of games that are going to be played on yout own without the feeling of guilt attained when the window cleaner looks at you like an oddity.
The Wii is an awersome machine for getting all ages up and playing but it needs to appeal to the "hardcore" to ensure the longevity of the console & not become another Dreamcast ( what a machine )

Why does it need to appeal to the 'hardcore'?

Nintendo are doing just fine without having to aim at the sort of folk who would like to call themselves 'hardcore' gamers. The sort of folk who are going on about how they can't wait for the new Grand Theft Auto so they can virtually live out their childish fantasies from the comfort of their bedrooms at their mum and dads expense.

Get over the Dreamcast mate, it's never coming back, just like your window cleaners who presumably caught you doing something a bit more than just swinging that Wiimote…

This is b**locks!!

Coding for a PS3 is difficult to get to grips with, multi thread processors are difficult to get to grips with.

The Wii is possibly one of the most basic machines out there, all this comes down to is the fact that there are loads of Wii's in peoples homes and loads of **** publishers are trying to cash in on it.

They make quick, cheap games that are rubbish, push them out on to the market and expect a big return because of the install base and the demographic of punter that owns them.

Mario Galaxy wasnt knocked up in couple of months and it shows.

Thats where rubbish publishers/developers are forgetting.

Mario Galaxy was knocked up in a couple of months and it shows? What a ridiculous comment.

You're either taking the **** or seriously deluded. Galaxy was in production for an age, well before the Wii was announced, and furthermore it's one of the most polished games out there.
