Sony cuts PS3 sales target

Sony financials reveal that the technology giant now expects PS3 sales to hit 9.5 million, rather than 11m

Reuters reports that the platform holder now expects to have sold 1.5 million fewer PS3s than its initial sales target up to March. But its handheld console has outstripped forecasts – Sony has raised its sales target for PSP for the current business year by three million to 13 million.

The change in forecasts comes as Sony Corp revealed that its Q3 profits were up six per cent, and its games business reached profitability following a cut in both production costs and price of PS3. Overall operating profits were up to 189.36 billion Yen from 178.91bn Yen a year earlier. For the year to March, the company also cut its operating profit forecast to 410bn Yen from 450bn Yen.

Sony, can you hurry up and release the PSP slim in all the colours that are available in Japan please?

If you do that, you might be able to adjust your figures again.

Get the felicia blue version out in the UK and you can make that figure 13million and 1.

Thanks.

I think its a known fact that if you release a newer colour of a console it people will sometimes buy another one or trade their old one just for the newer colour.

For example if Sony were to release a white PS3 in Europe I think they would easily meet their original sales figures or even surpass them.
