Silver PS3 confirmed for Japan

March arrival for new-look console, which joins Ceramic White model

SCEJ has confirmed that it will launch a Satin Silver version of its PS3 console in Japan on March 6th.

Costing just under YEN 40,000 (around £190) the 40GB machine will also include a silver version of the new rumbling Dualshock 3 joypad.

The Dualshock 3, as well as both this new Silver PS3 and last year’s Ceramic White console, have yet to hit any other territory outside of Sony’s homeland.

The PS3 platform holder also confirmed that it will indeed launch a PS3 budget software range in Japan, called The Best. It kicks off on March 19th with the release of Ridge Racer 7, Gundam: Target in Sight, Ninja Gaiden: Sigma, Reistance: Fall of Man and FolkSoul.

Again, no word on the company’s Euro plans.

I bet you that the US will be the next to get it, probably around summer this year, while UK will be lucky to get it around Xmas this year...and guess what?!...It will be the MOST EXPENSIVE out of all the territories.

It's unbelievable that people continue to buy into these lies by spending their hard-earned money on such extortionate products.

Until Sony sell a PS3 with 120GB+, DualShock3 and Backwards Compatibility, I'm staying away from this console gen.

Good luck, Sony, in trying to win me back.

I used to have a PS3 60gb didn't use it much to be honest but it went faulty! Went to the shop and they couldn't exchange it and said if I wanted a 40gb instead...I said no thanks! Got my money back instead so will wait until Sony decide to release a better model again with BC.

If you are that bothered about playing PS2 games, why didn't yyou just keep your PS2??? Or if you haven't got one, they are available for around £50 now!

As for rip of Britain, I agree to a point, but much of that increase is down to tax in the UK (import, VAT etc) so I suggest shouting a Gordon Brown - after all, EVERY console is cheaper abroad...

I agree with number 5 about the PS2 compatibility - as if Sony were going to stick to their word over this! If you want PS2 games, buy a PS2. If you want PS3 games, wait a couple of years, there should be some by then.

Are we counting HOME as a game?

Otherwise, you're using a plural there, careful

HOME is going to be the saving grace of the PS3. Between this and Folding@home it wont be long before Sony are back on track.
