Nintendo’s ‘cult’ fighter is maybe not so cult after all
Japan’s hunger for all things Nintendo looks set to continue into 2008 with the news that the firm’s latest Wii outing Super Smash Bros Brawl has sold 820,000 copies in its first week on the shelves.
The colourful fighter outsold its nearest rival, Capcom’s PS3 version of its gothic slasher Devil May Cry 4, by a ratio of 4-to-1, according to data from Japanese analysts Media Create.
However, Nintendo didn’t have it all its own way. Two PS2 titles, Namco’s Tales of Destiny: Director’s Cut and Banpresto’s Haruhi Suzumiya’s Wonderment edge above Wii Fit, which slips to fifth place.
The Xbox 360 version of Devil May Cry 4 and Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed also perform strongly.
The Japanese Top Ten for the week ending February 3rd:

THE most over-rated game ever. FACT. Well, at least the last one was. Maybe this one is great. But I doubt it.
Re: !
What's your point?
Re: !
My point is that Super Smash Bros is THE most over-rated game ever. FACT. I thought that would have been clear.
Re: !
Pretty sure that the honour of "Most over-hyped game(s) ever" falls to the entire Metal Gear Solid series.......
Re: KingPenguin
explain why it is THE most over rated game, please

I've had this debate with people before and it never goes anywhere. But nonetheless. I admire SSB's art style and, as a Ninty fan, I love all the retro references and the like. But personally I just can't see this supposedly tremendous depth of gameplay that fans can. I just can't see it. It's shallow to the extreme, and repetitive. I much preferred Power Stone on the DC.
Re: KingPenguin
Strip away the Nintendo characters and its always seemed like a pretty lame game to me. But can 820,000 people be wrong?
Re: KingPenguin
