Tony Hawk’s facing revamp

Activision pledges fresh innovation in the face of stiff competition from Skate

US publisher Activision has pledged to reassess its Tony Hawk’s franchise and introduce a number of new innovations into the next instalment, which is expected to hit shelves later this year.

EA recently claimed that its new extreme-sports contender Skate had outsold Activision’s Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground by a ratio of 2-to-1.

Skate turned the skating genre on its head last year with it’s revolutionary twin-stick control method. After nine years of Tony Hawk’s this fresh approach proved to be both a critical and commercial success for EA.

"after nine years of Tony Hawks, this fresh approach proved..."

hang on, what about the 'after nine years' bit?

Isnt that enough for Skate to outsell it by 2 to 1?

This franchise is dead and has been for a long time, the only reason it sold anything after part 3 was because there was nothing else half decent to buy in the same genre!!

the Tony Hawk franchise has been one of the most successful and enduring franchises of all time.

Good for Activision if they are up for bringing another round of skateboarding innovation to the skateboarding arena.

Let's hope that the Wii version doesn't constantly crash like THPG does.
