Spore also heading to next-gen consoles

Wii version is underway, and producer admits to considering PS3 and Xbox 360 releases

With a European release date of September 5th being set for EA’s massively hyped Spore on PC, Mac and DS just hours ago, talk has already shifted to the possibility of Will Wright’s epic arriving on other platforms.

Spanish site Revogamers quotes an EA rep as saying that the Wii version is already in the initial development phase: “The Wii version - we have no date for it, so we have no idea. We’re just at initial design stage. We love the Wii, but we’re not ready to announce anything yet.”

In addition, when asked about possible Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game, CVG quotes Spore producer Thomas Vu as stating: "There's lots of technical hurdles we have to think about before we can say, 'Okay, we can do this or not'.

“But we're always looking at and thinking about these issues. Yeah, of course we'd love to do it, but at the same time we don't know.”

I started reading this and thought, "Wow, they might have some info on the next generation of consoles!". But no, you're referring to the current generation of consoles. How long are we going to wait until we begin referring to the released consoles as having been released and therefore "Current Gen" instead of "Next Gen"? Good to know on spore, though... I've been looking forward to getting my hands on that game.
