Sega’s Alien-based FPS named

Gearbox’s upcoming Ripley-themed FPS is called Aliens: Colonial Marines

More or less nothing is known about Sega’s upcoming Alien FPS as of yet – but the next issue of US games mag Game Informer claims to have the scoop on the game’s title.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is being developed by Gearbox, the US studio behind WWII FPS Brothers in Arms. It was also the outfit behind the PC iterations of Halo and James Bond 007: Nightfire, as well as the unreleased Dreamcast version of Half-Life.

The game's name hints at a title with ties to the second movie in the Alien series (Aliens), which saw a team of intergalactic hard nuts set out to investigate the apparent disappearance of a human terraforming colony on the planet in which the Alien was encountered in the first film.

I'm not one to dish out hype when it hasn't been earned - but this game is in danger of kicking some serious ****.

my memory isn't playing tricks...

Aliens: Colonial Marines was the names of an Aliens-licensed FPS for the PS2 cancelled in 2001.

I thought it sounded familiar.
