Sony's PS3 was always aimed at being a trojan horse for blu-ray it worked shame Microsoft never did the same by including a HD-DVD player but oh well.

My reason for owning an Xbox 360 is for its games and exclusives and online.

If anyone is paying £40 a year they are not looking anywhere for a better deal, you can easily get Xbox Live 12month codes on ebay for as low as £30 if not sometimes a a bit less sometimes around £27 even.

Lag is dependant on many factors, coding of the game for online play, the host's connection and of course other players in the game I mean if they have multiple PC's that are on the net in the house or are downloading of course the online play will suffer but this has nothing to to do with Xbox Live.

I could go off and be like a fanboy and say mine is better than yours but why waste that energy? I rather use that energy for better things.

So HD-DVD lost oh well what can you do I am a bit upset over that but hey life goes on right?

Does the ps3 sound like a loud pc when playing a bluray? I want a cheap player but not a cooling fan running like its on speed!

Does anyone know when V2 bluray players are coming out?

Nope o_O. It's completely silent.

The fact is, 360 is way better for games and way better online. Its not as good for watching BluRay films, cos it does not have a BluRay player. But then again, it is a Games Machine, not an expensive video player.

The PS3 is a very quiet machine, unless you put it in a very enclosed space. I once forgot to slide the front glass panel away when playing a DVD and after about 46 minutes it went into fan overdrive - though was still only as noisy as a standard 360. Under nromal circumstances it's the quietest next-gen machine.

So i have completely silent from Red and fan in overdrive from MR T!

I dont want any sound or any lights beaming at me.

I'm guessing i am better off getting just a stand alone bluray player? I have my xbox for COD4 mates said online play with ps3 is nothing like live.

He can gloat, it is maybe the first time Sony managed to have his own format win a war.

Now, Sony could maybe focus on games and deliver something really good, because people are still waiting.

the games are coming, just wait!!! Its only been a year and some change.

I still find it funny that people say there are no games on the PS3! Last time I looked there were hundreds and including real quality titles, exclusives and cross platforms. It really boils down to personal preference but they are so many to choose.

The cross platforms play the same, better and worse than the 360 (e.g. Call of Duty - SAME, Turok - SAME, Assassins Creed - SAME, Jericho - SAME, Pro Evo - WORSE, FIFA - WORSE, Oblivion - BETTER, DMC - BETTER (controls & loading), Burnout - BETTER), there are quality exclusives like Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank, Heavenly Sword, GT-Prolog. There are more on the way like Metal Gear Solid, Resistance 2 and God of War. There are more cross platforms on the way too like GTA 4.

The Xbox doesn't have a great deal more over the PS3 except for 3 great exclusives - and they are only good if you like First Person Shooters (Gears of War, Halo & Bioshock).

I really get fed up of hearing about the game quality on the PS3. I have both consoles and in recent months I've spent FAR more time on the PS3. I prefer the controller (I have the dualshock 3). I've not had problems online (my connection is quick so that may help) and certainly I've not had noise issues of anything. This forum is so full of biased XBox fanboys. Any true gamer will know that both consoles have great games on them at the moment and will know that even more great games are coming out. I've not spent any time on my PS3 waiting for any games as I've had some from the start and I've had even more in recent months.

After all, how many games can a normal person with a life play in their lifetime!? I don't think if I bought every available game that was out now for the PS3 that I would actually be able to complete them before the PS4 comes out. I think that some people just bought the console for show and did not think that perhaps the one game title they really want was not out for X number of years and then rather than play other games in the meantime to keep them occupied, they decide to just ***** that "no games" are out. These people (and it is only a minority) are sad and pathetic.

Funny, i distinctly reading several independent reviews of Assassin's creed (note the apostrophe) with unfavourable comments:

Which is why i bought it for xbox instead. Oh by the way, I also own both consoles. I just choose which one to buy which game for. My xbox probably gets 3 times as much play as the PS3, and i predict it will continue to do so for at least the next few years. I'm not really a fan of fps but there is enough other content out there for me at the moment.

I once bought a blu-ray disc for about 20 quid. Looked great on my 42" screen. I never watched it again though. I can't think of many DVDs i've seen more than twice. Except star wars. And **** **** **** **** 12

@22 - If you're pathetic enough to pick up on the fact that I (accidentally) left out an apostrophe, I'll pick up on the fact that "I" is spelt with a capital - "Funny, i distinctly...", "Which is why i bought it for xbox instead...", "...and i predict..." and "...think of many DVDs i've seen...". Oh and Xbox and Blu-Ray should have capitals too, they're a nouns. But then they may have just been accidental mistakes by yourself too.

Have you played both the 360 and PS3 versions of Assassin's Creed? I have. My independent review is that they are pretty much the same. I've had slow down occur on both versions, screen tear as well, but as for game play and graphics, I cannot see anything different on my 40" Samsung LCD. Maybe I'm missing something, but during the hours I've spent playing this, I cannot see anything. Oh hang on, perhaps it's down to the fact that I have a patch for this game on the PS3 - something your Eurogamer review refers to, but actually doesn't have...

I've spent far more time on my PS3 recently than my 360. It's quieter, the wife has more fun using it too for games she likes and for the Blu-Ray player, it looks better under the TV as well as it matches the Samsung so it stays hooked permamently. But so what, as I said I have both, and I enjoy both, consoles. The fact is I think the PS3 is going to be used more for the foreseeable future and any mulitplatforms that come along I will probably get on the PS3 now, seeing as I can't see any difference. If you use your 360 more than your PS3 - so what. I couldn't care less. Needless to say I expect you feel the same about my usage too.

I had more problems with the Sony machines than my 360, yes it did get the RROD but after 2 years hard gaming.

I will however continue to be a owner of all the available consoles as this way I dont end up on anyones side as they are not loyal to me, so why should I remain loyal, after all I am a gamer I love games & dont care which machine a quality game is on I just want to play it.

Where is the Matrix, V for Vendetta, Heroes, Batman Begins, Transformers, Star Trek TOS and other HD movies I want to watch now then the market has been monopolised? Oh I forget, they arent Sony films. Isnt there a risk that a movie company with its own proprietry format is able to provide unhealthy competition for its own movies? Not so much up till, now, but nows the chance to shine guys!

Good point Who Cares. Reckon main reason that my PS3 hasnt died, is that its been nice and snug in its box all the time I been playing my 360.
