You say it sucks, but it's designed to play a completely different role to services such as Xbox Live and PSN.

xbox live = online multiplayer
PSN = online multiplayer
WiiConnect24 = online multiplayer

I cant see no different role

Come on now. All three networks are about considerably more than multiplayer. Indeed, I would say that the multiplayer components are the least significant. It's all about the content nowadays, and Microsoft's approach in different to Sony's, and they're both a world way from Nintendo's ideas.

Look at their approach, too. Microsoft wants user-friendlyness but also wants to maintain strict control. Sony is very open with its platform, whereas Nintendo's priority is to maintain its family-friendly approach, hence the strict use of Friends Codes as oppsoed to simply gamertags. No voice chat for the same reason.

All hugely different approaches.

I can't comment on the features of each (Live, PSN and Wii Connect 24) but I honestly am suprised that pricing was introduced sooner since out of all of them I would say Live is one of the better online services .

I know there was trouble with Live over christmas but that was with the amount of people signing up for Live. I haven't seen the Wii's online services but from what I'm hearing there is trouble with the lag on the PS3 while my experiences on Live have been relatively lag free.

I haven't seen the Wii's version but what I would be interested in is finding out the price plans they plan to introduce as paying a little is worth it in my opinion if they keep the service running correctly.
