THQ boss says that Sony and Xbox 360 ‘still have a lot of firepower in their arsenal’
Chief executive of THQ Brian Farrell has predicted that Sony and Microsoft can still catch Nintendo in the next-gen console sales battle.
Speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology Conference, Farrell said he expects the PS3 and Xbox 360 sales to increase as both platform holders drop their price, reports Kotaku.
Farrell’s comments fit snugly with yesterday’s news that Microsoft is planning a further price drop for Xbox 360 this month.
“The way we're thinking about this cycle from a high level is, the Wii at that lower price-point had a lot of momentum early in the cycle,” said Farrell. “But as Sony and Microsoft come down the price curve those two should accelerate, and there's a lot of firepower left in their arsenal.”
Farrell also asserted his confidence that both PS3 and Xbox 360 would enjoy overall success in this hardware cycle.

Bold claim
Though PS3 is obviously on the up, I can't see the tide turning enough for either machine to match the Wii. It's a completely different ball game now - the Wii's market is apparently limitless, whereas something like the 360, or even the PS3, can only appeal to so many people.
Re: Bold claim
Good point but the 'so many people' that you mention will actually be buying games for their consoles, unlike the majority of Wii owners.
